which will be held from 1 to 3 September 2020, from 10 am to 6 pm at the Mekinje monastery in Kamnik.
The purpose of the workshop is to illustrate various ways of working with stories and local heritage, and to give each participant, through both practical and hands-on experience, a taste of the basic requirements for crafting a story that is intimately related to a particular site.
The starting point will be the local story of Countess Veronica, who is half snake, half female, and who is still waiting for her savior on a hill in the middle of the city.
Landscapes and heritage provide us with stories, ones that we can learn to decode and understand to fully appreciate. The storyteller then works to make those tales available to the audience, helping decipher and shed light on the legends, which can be, at times, obscure.
Storytellers use their creative touch to develop and embellish the stories not only when there isn’t enough source material, but even when planning how best to present a well-known story.
The story becomes a bridge to better and more deeply connect with the town, museum, or site that we are visiting or living in.
